New Life.  I moved to Buenaventura in 2018 for the birth of my grandson Ife he was born in April that year.   It was an easy decision to pack up my life in UK and head here after so many fantastic annual visits to spend time with my daughter in the country.  I now live in Cali but enjoy and am inspired by both cities and the south west Pacific region in which they are located.

I often reflect and muse on the different projects I have been engaged in over the years and the many wonderful people I met during my artistic endeavors.  ´Big up Bristol´ for so many creative times.

New works in Colombia.  I have set myself several projects that are ostensibly linked to the coastal regions of Cauca and Valley de Cauca, areas populated by Afro Colombians.  The many people here of African descent are of course here due to the transatlantic slave trade and there are communities in the rivers that continue to live very much as they would have before they were transported, that is in close association with the land, the issue of land rights remaining paramount in their struggle.  The people and subjects of my work draw on cultural heritage and  identity in the diaspora.

My practice is in Artworks in mixed media, painting, drawing, use of recycled objects and textiles.  I create exhibitions, installations and moving image projects.

Previously I produced Giclee Prints, Greetings cards, Textile hangings, Baby Books & Bibs.
I engaged in Commissions, Presentations, Community Arts, Visual Arts Education.

From previous statement.  I use video, mixed media, painting, drawing and installation in my practice to explore afro-centric concepts and notions of Black Britishness.  As a black woman of dual heritage my work references culture and identity in my pursuit to identify with my own Yoruba heritage and to comment on contemporary African societies in Britain, and in the African Diaspora.  I make use of different mediums/media to emphasis the context of the work often employing recycled objects and materials. The textiles I use are closely associated with contemporary and traditional West African costume, these costumes are still widely worn and hold strong cultural ties for societies living in Africa and the Diaspora.

I especially explored personal connections early on in my practice at that time this being a cathartic and necessary direction.  The discipline gave me the tools and the resources to pull the pieces together and open my mind to unknown realms.
